About the PAC-8
The PAC-8 Hockey Conference was founded in 1995, as a competitive intercollegiate ice hockey conference composed of those PACIFIC-10 schools with university sanctioned ice hockey programs. The current PAC-8 members are:
Arizona State University,
Stanford University,
University of California Berkeley,
University of California Los Angeles,
University of Oregon,
University of Southern California,
University of Washington and
Washington State University.
As a member of the Western Region of the American College Hockey Association (ACHA), PAC-8 teams play a diverse schedule of conference teams and against over 100 other universities and colleges teams within the ACHA, either on the West Coast or across the country. All teams are required to abide by ACHA rules and regulations, as well as on-ice NCAA rules. PAC-8 teams also must follow additional conference on-ice and academic eligibility requirements. Each team plays a required minimum of 10 inter-conference games per season for a chance to go to the prestigious PAC-8 Championship Tournament, and another 20 games for a possible invite the ACHA National Tournament.
The PAC-8 Hockey Conference Tournament includes the top 4 regular season ranked teams for a 2-day series. Day One includes two Semi-Final games, with the first-ranked team playing the fourth-ranked team and the second-ranked team playing the third-ranked team. Day Two includes the winners of the Semi-Final games playing for the PAC-8 Championship title, while the other two teams play for third place.
The PAC-8 Hockey Conference Banquet is held after the tournament and honors each team's tournament placement, Tournament MVP, PAC-8 Coach of the Year, PAC-8 First Team, PAC-8 Second Team, and PAC-8 Honorable Mention Team.
